Mayan Calendar • Winter Solstice • Sacred Days Candle

This may be one of the most remarkable candle collections I have ever poured. There are three astrologic events that make this such and important candle. I am pleased to say these candles are now for sale and ready to ship.

The astrologic moment that received the most attention was that of 12/21/2012 and it's relationship to  the Mayan Calendar.  Various interpretations of the significance of the date proposed that this moment marked the End of the World, others saw it as the moment of a New Calendar or a New Era in human evolution. I do not recall too many dates that have received such attention for global transformation. 

Of great interest to me is a second prophecy, or astrologic awareness that received almost no attention ( by design ). The day, 12/21/2012, and the time in particular (6:11 AM EST) of this pour, was predicted by some Native American tribes of the American South West to be the moment when our earth was in alignment with the center of the galaxy, and therefore marking the beginning of a New Phase.  I offer many thanks to my spiritual collaborator in sacred astrology and spiritual ceremony for bringing this time to my attention. 

In the Western calendar, December 21st of most any year marks the Winter Solstice.  This year,  at 6:11 AM EST the Sun was at 0 degrees Capricorn, 00 minutes Capricorn. To me this is a breath taking coincidence for the following reasons:

When teaching Tarot from the Hermetic perspective, and in particular empowered by the wisdom of Daniel C. Matt and his book on the Tree of Life, I always talk about the "inhale" -  the in breath before the great exhale of the Creator that was/is the "Big Bang" or the creation of our known world. To me, the most sacred moment is the moment before the kiss, before the brush is dipped in paint, before the chisel strikes the stone, for in that moment........ all is possible. At 6:11 AM EST at my longitude and latitude, the Sun was 0 degrees Capricorn and 00 minutes Capricorn..... the ultimate galactic inhale!

On 12/21/2012 I arose at 4:11 AM to ensure that all would be ready. The molds were prepared, the wax was melted, the fragrances were blended and "oned"  with each other and the purpose of the candle. All time keeping devices were synchronized so that I could actually begin to pour at exactly 6:11 AM. I continued in one pointed and sacred attention to pour candles as quickly as possible until 6:12 AM. For this reason, the collection is quite small. (The candles cooled throughout the day and were finished and sealed before nightfall. They were not left unattended. Sacred space was not broken.) 

It was therefore thrilling to see the Celtic Solstice in keeping with Native astrology at 6:11 AM for a rare alignment of another galactic world view. I did not choose to place an extravagant price on candles that capture this rare moment, rather to add only $5 to the usual price. This makes the total of the cost of the candles to be - in numerology  a "9" - Foundation - the sphere of the Moon on the Tree of LIfe.

I could continue to write at length about the phase of the Moon or the meanings of Earth signs, however, for those who already understand the candle, and the timing of it..... all that information is icing on an remarkable cake. For those unfamiliar with energy healing, vibrational healing, sacred days and the power of the energy of moments, there is little I could write that would make the candle more that a curio.

However, the affirmation for this candle affirms your endurance, immortality, wisdom, and one ness with the nature of all things. I took great care in writing a meditation that would be worthy of such an auspicious time. This candle will be excellent to help open the crown chakra, for all chakra work in general, and to bring a sense of peace and personal power to you.

Reiki Healing Candles - Full Moon Poured

This Reiki healing candle collection was poured in sacred space, to sacred sounds with the clear intention that you are comforted in mind and spirit in particular. Usui Reiki Master Ann George pours these natural wax candles when planetary influences and aspects are at their vibrational best for the desired healing outcome.

In the case of these hand poured candles, both luminaries were in compatible mutable & masculine signs. This post will review the basics of the astrology of the pour from the Western tradition.

This healing candle collection was poured December 12, 2008 with the Sun in Sagittarius. The process began at 8:30 AM Eastern when the Full Moon in Gemini was making a series of fortunate aspects for blessing with the outer planets. The pour concluded at 10:00 AM to avoid Moon Void of Course.

The vibrational benefit of Sun, reflecting the higher face of natural mind, in Sagittarius is the mutable fire energy for both direct, energetic action as well as the energy of adaptability, transformation, purification and comfort with change. Fire has long been associated with both spirit & purification, so to melt wax over open flame during Sun Sagittarius energetically honors & "captures" the best of the moment.

That the intent of these candles is to help you achieve mental healing as you see fit, is therefore more likely when the Sun is in a Fire sign, and a mutable Fire sign at that. I hope this is clear. More information about the astrology of candle pouring is online in this blog & at my primary site.

To be sure, Sun in Sagittarius is only one piece of the energy puzzle relevant to the pouring of these healing candles. That the Moon was full in the Mutable Air sign of Gemini makes the blessing of Sun in Sag all the more useful. This is true because pouring healing candles when both luminaries are in compatible signs is more useful than pouring when the Sun & Moon are in signs that are not naturally compatible.

Gemini, as mentioned, is a mutable Air sign, thus the same flexible, adaptable & versatile nature associated with Sagittarius is present in the Lunar influence of Moon Gemini. Further, Air signs are known to be the signs most adept at mental activities. Gemini, sign of the twins, is noted for seeing in terms of relationship to the other. This is particularly useful to create healing candles design to help us free ourselves from negative, habitual thought patterns, or perhaps tendencies to isolate, or to think in very self-centered ways.

Another important Lunar note is that on 12/12/08 the Moon was at it's Perigee. The energetic importance of this could be argued, however, we do know the pull of the moon and it's effect on water, oceans, tides etc. is not arguable. As we are composed of water, the pull of this lovely Full Moon may well effect the natural wax as it melts and cools again to form your Reiki healing candle.

New Moon Healing Candles - Reiki Healing on the Solar Eclipse

This limited collection of Reiki candles was poured February 6, 2008 with the Sun in Aquarius. The process began at 7:30 PM Eastern when the New Moon in Aquarius was conjunct Chiron and continued into and through the New Moon in Aquarius at 10:44 PM EST.

With both luminaries in Aquarius, the fixed Air sign of Hopes, Dreams, Friends and Wishes the energy of the night was excellent to accomplish a healing candle.

This pour also took advantage of Waning Moon energy to release illness & New Moon energy to draw to us what we wish for. Fixed sign energy is excellent for perfecting and finishing. Air sign energy is flexible, adaptable, versatile. These qualities of Aquarius were chosen for this collection, in part because the frequency, or the energetic footprint of this combination seems helpful to people who are praying for healing.

The Waning Moon energy is the energy of release, of letting go of things we no longer find useful. Thus, the pouring of the candles began as the Moon slipped from Waning to New. The New Moon time is symbolic of the unseen potential to illuminate one's path, or to bring the existing light (healing) into fullness.

Dikki-Jo Mullen notes:

The Mardi Gras Festival and Ash Wednesday coincide with a solar eclipse at 17 Aquarius on February 6. The Sabian Symbol for this degree appropriately reads "A Person Unmasked". Analysis, taking away illusions and seeing through them, is the theme.

The fixed star Nashira is near the eclipse as well as the elusive and illusionary planet Neptune. Nashira means "She who brings good news." or "The Fortunate One" in Arabic. Nashira's presence turns hardship to success. Evil is overcome by goodness."

Clearly, both Western & Sabian notes are auspicious for pouring healing candles on this day. Checking the Tibetan calendar, we see that February 6 is a Water/Earth Element Conjunction. This combination is the third of the auspicious combination. Engaging in joyful activities on this day is said bring great good fortune and happiness.

These candles were poured in sacred space in a room filled with sacred & joyful sound. In particular, a healing Sanskrit mantra played throughout the pouring. When is it best to burn moonpoured candles?

I am happy to reply to this excellent question for the benefit of all shoppers at the Moon poured Candle Store.
Here we go:

Greetings Ann,

I recently received two of your candles as a gift from a wonderful new friend. The Reiki Healing Candle and the Success Candle. Is there a sequence that I should follow with these candles (e.g., Reiki first and Success second or visa versa? )
I am anxious to start using them and I want to make sure that I do it correctly for the best results.

When I hand pour the candles, I try to create beautiful tools to serve as "complete little units of intention". What I mean by that is that each candle in and of itself is poured to make the best use of color, fragrance, intent, moon phases and sun times so that you may burn your candle at anytime. The idea is to instill in the molten wax, all the best possible ingredients to heal the body, mind and spirit so that you may manifest the healing, success, wealth or love that you want in your life.

If you prefer to work with the affirmation included in the Reiki Candle first, focusing exclusively on that before you move on to use the Success Candle, this is fine. If you prefer to manifest Success in the morning, then have a peaceful healing candle meditation that evening, also fine. I don't think burning both at once would be very helpful, as the meditation/affirmation part of the right use of candles in ritual matters. In fact, it is your intent, your prayers, your own personal inner voice that makes candle ritual effective. Thus, your inner voice is the best guide to follow when choosing when or how to use of the candles. The labile, instructions and affirmation are for your benefit, and serve to help you choose the candle that is the right one for you.

Blue Moon Poured Blessing Candles - Chakra Candles

First, my intent in pouring the candles is that they empower you to bring about Blessings of every kind. These natural wax pillars were poured during the Full Moon of 5/21/07. This year, this day marks the celebration of the Enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha. While there are many different ways to see the world, some cultures hold the view that we are really in a mulit dimensional reality, and that everything is really happening all at once. Many validate the idea that words, or rituals, or even moments in time, sacred days, accumulate power because they have been honored, or celebrated by many peoples for thousands of years. I believe that these ideas are valid... and they affect the timing of all the candles I make.

The color was also a careful choice. I allowed the pure, almost dazzling, crystalline white of the palm oil wax to shine as itself to represent purity, illumination & of course, the sacred. The candles are tipped in red to honor the union of earth and air, or flesh & spirit, the oneness of the divinity in the material of every living creature.

The astrology of the day, Sun Gemini, Moon Scorpio is also very interesting in that we have Air & Water, or Spirit & Emotion, Mind & Heart, vibrating in the planets that light our world. I will update this post with more information in the near future.

Cazimi Moon Poured Healing Candle -

This Reiki Healing Candle was poured during the Cazimi Moon on February 17, 2007 at 11:15 am Eastern Standard Time. I will begin by offering an excerpt from my 2007 Planetary Guide, "any planet whose center is within 17 degrees of the arc of the center of the Sun in celestial longitude, is said to be Cazimi. Oddly, this is considered the highest form of accidental dignity.... a planet is thought to be very powerful & benefic when Cazimi."

On this day both the Sun & the New Moon were in Aquarius. It is important to mention that from the Hermetic perspective, the Sun represents the Authentic Self, the True face of the Natural Man and the Moon represents the Ego, the Persona, the self we show to the world. When both Sun & Moon are in the same sign (for the purpose of pouring healing candles) then there is an accord, or a a balance that is energetically useful. This is a good time to pour candles for balance, healing, friendship or peace.

The importance of the New Moon is that for creatures of the Earth, the night is pitch black on the new moon. Deep, mysterious & full of unseen possibility. Thus, a new Moon provides us the benefit of both the calm, dark night & the unmanifest potential to make a new beginning. When working to create a new energetic condition, a New Moon is a good time to begin.

To speak a bit about the planetary influences, both luminaries are in Aquarius which is a fixed Air sign. When the luminaries are in Air signs it is a fortunate time to pour for candles for healing the mind. Fixed signs provide stabilizing energy.

Reiki Candles for Healing - Solar Eclipse Poured

I am pleased to offer these Reiki charged healing candles. They were poured on March 29, 2006 during the total Solar Eclipse. On this day, the Aries Sun was complemented by the Moon, waning in Aries. Aries is the first sign of the Western Zodiac, the sign of indentity.. a Cardinal and initiating sign whose key word is " I am".
